What are they?
IAPT’s BME Arabic Wellbeing Sessions are open to women from the Arabic community who would like to learn proven techniques to overcome common symptoms of stress, anxiety and low mood.
There are five enjoyable sessions, lasting 2.5 hrs and delivered by two NHS professionals. You will have an opportunity to learn how to make some positive changes and learn techniques to improve your wellbeing. It is also an opportunity to meet other women who may share similar feelings to you. You will not be asked to share your personal experiences with others as we will use case studies during the sessions.
You will also receive a free workbook to use throughout the sessions.
The sessions will be run in a variety of venues across Sheffield.
What can I expect from these sessions?
There are a total of 5 sessions which run on a weekly basis. The sessions last for 2.5 hours and a qualified interpreter will be available. You will receive the most benefit from attending all 5 sessions. So as not to feel overwhelming there are 18 places available to book on each course. During these sessions we will ask you to complete a questionnaire to help monitor progress.
In the rare circumstances that a course would need to be cancelled, we would notify you immediately and advise you about what to do next.

Here is what you can expect in each session:
Understanding wellbeing- provides a basic understanding about how our mood and wellbeing is affected.
Anxiety – Understand what anxiety is, learn ways to manage anxiety and learn how to relax.
Worry – Look at worry and how this affects our wellbeing, learn different techniques to help manage worry.
Low mood – Understanding how low mood affects us and ways to improve low mood.
Health behaviours, Sleep and future planning – learn ways to improve sleep, make positive changes around health behaviours and look at goals to keep well in the future.
